Four Little Treasures
Clamping the dry cherry pit tight in my beak, I hopped down from the kitchen counter and scampered straight through the shadowy hallway. Up, up onto the wooden nightstand! The folded woolen scarf was waiting just as soft as ever. I dropped the pit right into the hollow, nudging it with my chest until it rolled neatly alongside my pebble, brass button, and acorn cap. All four resting side by side? Perfect! I gave each one a tiny tap with my beak, fluffed my feathers wide, and snuggled deep into the wool for the night.
