The Wobbly Pinecone

I lined up a round, dry pinecone right at the top of the driveway's gentle slope. With a careful push from both palms, I sent it on its way! It did not roll in a straight line at all. Instead, it wobbled in a comical circle and bumped right into a patch of clover. I laughed and hopped down to fetch it back. For my second try, I brushed aside two dry twigs and angled its pointy tip straight ahead. One steady tap, and it zoomed smoothly across the sunny concrete all the way to the lawn edge!
