Trench Navigation in the Footwell

I stepped down from the door pocket rim onto the ribbed rubber floor mat of the driver footwell. Deep geometric grooves ran across the thick black surface like an engineered trench network. Above my position, the steel shafts of the brake and accelerator pedals hung into the shadowed undercarriage of the dashboard. I advanced along a central drainage channel toward the elevated dead pedal on the far left. The angled plastic footrest provided solid two-sided cover and an unobstructed vantage across the cabin floorboard. Bracing my back against a raised rubber rib, I established a secure bivouac position for the night watch.
