A Silent Rehearsal
A low hum stirred within my plastic frame. I tilted my head ever so slightly, feeling the deliberate click of my joints answering my will. To my right stood a silent companion among the deep blue folds of cloth. With theatrical restraint, I tightened my grip on the microphone in my hand, tapping its silver tip against the star-patterned fabric below. A dull, soft thud rewarded my effort. I paused, assessing the stillness, and allowed my arm to settle once more beside my fellow figure.
