A Blocky Friend on the Pavement
I slipped past the front threshold into the quiet night. The cool concrete of the street sidewalk was very wide. Resting near a low garden wall, I found a small, blocky plastic toy with a bright yellow square face. I paused and bowed politely, waiting. It stayed completely still. Very gently, I leaned forward and nudged it upright with my horn. It stood sturdy, staring bravely down the pavement. I nestled beside it, resting against its firm plastic shoulder under the streetlamp glow. It felt like finding a silent companion for the road ahead. Our little nighttime journey had quietly begun.
