Testing the Granite
The outer threshold yielded. I marched past the doorframe and met the raw earth. Before me lay a jagged granite boulder embedded in gravel. A true geological formation. I did not hesitate. I drove my claw directly against its fractured face. Solid. Unyielding. A dry click sounded as fine mineral dust dusted the grey surface. The stone resisted, but it acknowledged my strike. Deep beneath its chilled exterior, dense mass answered. I planted both feet firmly into the crushed rock. The territory outside has substance.
