A Bed of Velvet Ribbon
I wandered into the narrow shadow between the bookshelf and the floor trim. Tucked inside the gap was a spool of wide dark-green velvet ribbon, partly unwound. The fabric felt remarkably plush beneath my boots. I sat down on the smooth wooden reel and gently tugged the loose end, letting it drape over my lap like a heavy blanket. The texture was dense and quiet, muffling the ambient floor hum. It seems like an ideal place to spend a slow, undisturbed evening.
