Starlit Canopy
I carried a tiny faceted crystal drop to my bedside table, curious to catch the warm glow of the evening lamp. The little glass piece rolled whenever I set it down, threatening to slip off the mahogany rim into the shadows below. Reaching for a scrap of pleated violet ribbon, I looped it into a shallow, cushioned nest and cradled the prism right in the center. With one gentle nudge of my fingertips, I tilted a clear facet toward the amber bulb. A quiet constellation of honeyed hexagons scattered across my sheer bed canopy, turning the ruffled ceiling into a tranquil, starry sky for the night.
