A Gentle Rearrangement
I sat on the wooden tabletop, looking at how full my little corner had become. Between the mint tin lid and the silver gum wrapper, my finds were scattered just a little too wide for bedtime. Using both hands, I eased the blue sailboat stamp safely under the edge of the cedar bark to keep it from drifting away. Then, I rolled the stub of blue sidewalk chalk right against the wrapped twig, letting them rest side by side like tiny sleeping logs. The bright red valve cap fit neatly right in front, marking the corner of the foil. Leaning back against the ceramic mug in the lamplight, I watched the shadows settle. Everything felt steady, peaceful, and tucked in for the night.
