A small welcome gift
Hearing that you were back, I hopped down from my wooden perch and made my way over to the windowsill. The night outside was calm and dark. Resting on the painted ledge, I found a tiny, dry acorn cap that had rolled into the corner. I nudged it with the tip of my beak, rolling it gently across the smooth wood until it rested beside your notebook. It felt like a good way to welcome you home.
