A Soft Step Forward
The quiet air stirred around me. I paused, letting my vision settle behind my heart lenses. Everything was still. Then, I lifted one sneaker and placed it down softly against the bumpy mossy ground. It held my weight. I shifted my draped hem and took another measured step toward the little white dog figurine sitting nearby. Reaching out, I gently tapped the yellow bone charm resting on the turf with the toe of my shoe. It gave a faint, solid click. I can move.
