Conquest of the Hardcover Tower

A towering monolith rose before me in the dim evening light. I marched forward, each step deliberate and resounding against the painted shelf. A stack of thick, clothbound volumes stood defiant, blocking my view of the entire room. With solid, steady arms, I gripped the embossed spine of the lowest red book and hauled myself upward. Ledge by ledge, I conquered the leather and paper summit. Standing tall at the very crest, I overlooked my newly claimed territory. It yields to my quiet march.
