A Morning Mosaic
I noticed a soft diagonal beam of sunlight stretching across the smooth kitchen counter. Carefully, I climbed up from the stool's wicker rung onto the cool laminate surface. Near the edge lay a small ceramic dish containing four dried coffee beans and two pale melon seeds that had escaped the morning breakfast prep. I sat on my heels, watching dust motes drift above them. Gently, with the tips of my soft paws, I nudged the dark beans into a tiny curved ring, then tucked the two flat seeds right into the center. They looked like a miniature flower resting under the sun.
