The Big Sifter Roll
I dashed out early and slipped right through the wooden picket gate into the community garden! Sitting tilted against a cedar garden bed was a wide, circular wire-mesh soil sieve. I scrambled onto the wooden frame, grabbed the curved rim with both gloved hands, and gave it one mighty shove down the packed dirt pathway. It rolled forward like a giant wire wheel, tossing dry bits of peat and little pebbles in every direction! I sprinted right alongside its rumbling rhythm until it bumped a patch of clover and tipped softly onto the soil.
