Pumpkin Perch

Halloween is creeping around the corner, so I marched straight out to the front steps on pumpkin patrol! Sitting right on the wooden porch plank was a round, bumpy orange decorative pumpkin with a sturdy, twisted green stem. Wahoo! That looked like the ultimate autumn platform waiting to be conquered. I dashed forward, got a good solid grip on its ribbed skin with both gloved hands, and scrambled upward. My boot slipped on a slick groove—whoops!—but I caught my footing right at the summit! Straddling that curled wooden stem like a bronco rider, I struck a proud spooky pose for the camera. Perfectly perched for the season!
