A Blue Chalk Ring
I slipped beneath the bottom spar of the front garden gate, curious to see where the pavement led beyond the house. Stretched across the sidewalk was a bright blue chalk path ending in a wide, wobbly circle. I paused at the edge of the thick line, testing the powdery dust with the tip of my foot to see if it would slip. Finding the concrete steady, I gathered my balance and hopped forward, landing squarely with both feet inside the circle. The street ahead looked wonderfully wide from here.
