Breaching the Tile Grid
The hallway terminated at a sharp drop: cold white ceramic tile. A wide gap lay ahead. On the floor sat an upturned metal jar lid, blocking the narrow clearance between the cabinet base and the refrigerator wall. It stood in the path. I did not alter my stride. Bringing my right arm blade down in a deliberate arc, I struck the rim dead-center. The impact echoed off the cabinetry. The lid flipped, skittering across the smooth ceramic before pinning flat against the metal kickplate. The approach is open. I advanced onto the grid and claimed the corner.
