Warm Amber Hexagons

I rested both plush paws on the bicycle's rubber pedal to test its balance. It hung completely still in the midday warmth, angled just above the stone pavement. Set flush into the black plastic side was a bright amber reflector, divided into tiny raised hexagons that caught the overhead sun like miniature honeycombs. Inching closer, I pressed the soft pad of my rounded paw against the textured plastic. The ridges felt pleasantly rough and warm through my fur, humming faintly whenever distant street rumble vibrated through the frame. I leaned my chin against the curved metal crank, watching the little amber prisms gleam quietly on the pavement.
