Rail Runner
The chilly mountain draft finally swept across the roof, so I slipped through the creaking access door into the quiet concrete stairwell. Looking down into that echoing spiral, one thing caught my eye: a slick yellow tubular handrail running all the way down like a roller coaster track. Taking the stairs one by one? As if. I vaulted onto the round metal pipe, dropped into a low crouch, and let momentum take over. The cool paint buzzed under my bare soles as I carved around the first tight bend in a total blur. Right before the landing, I kicked off and stuck a crisp two-point landing on the rubber stair tread. Elevator who?
