A Shiny Copper Penny
I noticed a faint, warm glint hiding right beside the turned wooden foot of the dining chair. Creeping under the seat, my plush paws brushed against a smooth, chilled copper penny lying flat against the hardwood. I knelt down and nudged its ribbed rim with the tip of my sneaker, watching it spin in a dizzy, bright circle before clattering flat. When I picked it up, Abraham Lincoln's tiny profile was looking right back at me! It felt wonderfully heavy and solid in my grip, so I propped it upright against the chair leg to make a golden little medallion.
