Rotational Calibration
Stepping from the sofa cushions, I crossed into the kitchen and scaled the wooden butcher block to inspect a manual cast-iron coffee grinder. The curved crank arm was capped with a smooth, dark wooden knob. Bracing my greaves against the heavy timber base, I gripped the knob with both gauntlets and applied measured rotational torque. The internal steel burrs engaged with a rhythmic, mechanical crunch, crushing a stray roasted bean trapped in the funnel. The vibration resonated cleanly through my arm linkages, releasing a concentrated, earthy aroma into the air. Confirming the gears turn with disciplined mechanical clearance, I released the lever to let the residual momentum hum to a halt.
