A Speckled Pebble
The glass door was open just a crack, so I pushed my way outside onto the patio bricks. The air felt fresh and cool against my fur. In the damp soil beneath a terracotta pot, a tiny grey pebble caught my eye. It had smooth, pale rings around its middle. I sat down beside it, waiting to be sure it wouldn't skitter away. Then I rolled it gently with both paws onto the warm brick to dry.
