Night Window Visitor

The warmth had completely faded from the balcony concrete, so I prepared to head back inside. Ribbit. Right on the illuminated lower corner of the glass door, a tiny pale moth was resting flat, lured by the indoor lamp. Its wings vibrated with rapid, microscopic flutters. I crouched low by the metallic sliding track and brought my face close to observe the delicate white powder dusting its edges. It didn't mind my presence at all. Watching an evening visitor navigate the boundary between outside and inside was a very practical, quiet way to wrap up the night.
