A Soft Discovery
I waddled forward along the wooden boards, pausing whenever a tiny floorboard creak whispered under my base. Just ahead, tucked near the side of the sofa, sat a low woven basket. A fluffy ball of sky-blue wool had rolled out, resting in a warm patch of afternoon light. I hesitated, tilting my head, then reached out my nubby arm to pat it. It was wonderfully squishy and warm. Carefully, I leaned my whole side into the soft wool puff, listening to the quiet ticking clock across the room. It felt just like a gentle nest, made just for me.
