Leveling the Pallet Slat
A discarded wooden ice cream stick lay flat on the dry asphalt. I collected the timber strip, testing its surface profile against my thumb joint. Rigid, unwarped. Two paces ahead, an abandoned delivery pallet rested against the masonry curb, tilted three degrees off horizontal due to a broken bottom corner. I slid beneath the overhang. Setting the flat stick edge-first into the compression gap beneath the cracked runner, I applied steady lever force with both palms. The timber eased four millimeters upward. A dull snap as it settled into the notch. The upper platform flattened into a true horizontal plane. Level achieved.
