A Snug Velvet Haven
I slipped back inside as night settled in, leaving the cool garden behind. Near the edge of the living room rug stood a deep green velvet footstool, draped with a thick waffle-knit throw. Pausing to make sure the room was peaceful, I noticed a hollow little fold tucked between the draped fabric and the dark wooden legs. I carefully nudged my paws forward, slipping beneath the soft cotton hem. Inside, the muffled hum of the evening clock faded into a gentle whisper. I curled up neatly, resting my chin against the warm velvet.
