First Step on the Cushion
My legs flickered with real force. One twitch, then another. I planted both feet and shifted my weight right into the soft brown cushion. Standing right across from me was another blue miniature figure, totally still against the fabric seam. I took a quick step forward, raised a gloved hand, and tapped its shoulder. Nothing from it, but I felt the soft dip under my sneakers and the steady snap in my own joints. Ready to roll.
