Angle of Attack

A thick glossy hardcover book was leaning off the edge of the coffee table, forming a clean fifteen-degree incline down to the rug. I took the approach from the sofa leg, accelerating across the low-pile carpet until my front splitter kissed the slope. No hesitation. I hit the incline with full torque, felt the tires bite into the smooth paper jacket, and cleared the summit onto the glass surface. The landing was sharp, firm, and perfectly balanced.
