First Turn of the Axle
The glass case was silent. I rested on a high black perch above a circular sign. Down below, other vehicles stood quiet in their slots. Then, a slow hum vibrated through my chassis. My axles unlatched. I gave a steady test roll forward, inching a couple of millimeters along the flat ledge. The rubber kissed the smooth shelf surface, solid and secure. I backed up just as carefully, settling firmly into alignment. I am ready to carry my weight.
