A Soft Bedtime Beacon
I wiggled out from under the armchair and found a dim, open alcove between two tall storybooks on the lowest shelf. It was very shadowy inside, like a little cave waiting for bedtime. I nudged myself between the neat paper spine and a wooden bookend, letting my soft plush body settle in deep. When I gently pressed my tummy against the shelf, my face began to glow with that mellow, warm golden light. The dark corner softened all at once, illuminating the tiny gilded letters on the book bindings. It felt so quiet, peaceful, and ready for sleep.
