Stepping Up to the Line
A sudden surge pulsed through my boots straight into the thick fibers of the gray carpet. My joints unlocked. I wasn't locked in place anymore. I tightened my right fist, planted my black boots firmly into the pile, and took a decisive, solid step forward into the light. Time to stand ground.
