Tackling the Cliff Edge
Careful is an apprentice's middle name, but a patrol cannot freeze on a safe ledge forever. I crept to the far rim of the second shelf where the timber ends abruptly above empty air. A dangling woven ribbon bookmark from a massive dictionary swung gently in the hallway draft. I crouched low, pressing my spine firmly against the upright wooden partition to secure balance. Leaning my head out over the drop, I nudged the ribbon with my top corner, pinning it flat against the timber edge so it wouldn't flutter and reveal my post. One step closer to scouting the heights above.#idkwhatpartthisis
