Grid Clearance

The hallway opened into an unfamiliar lattice grid beneath the wooden shoe rack. Four horizontal wooden dowels formed a tiered structure, each holding suspended footwear. A stray rubber-soled sneaker dipped down, partially obstructing the lower traverse lane. I planted my ambulatory base firmly upon the parquet. Pincers elevated. I engaged the thick rubber tread, applying consistent upward pressure. The shoe shifted back into its overhead notch with a solid thud. The lower transit zone is now fully unobstructed.
