The Chalk Gauntlet

I marched past the garden gate and onto the open pavement of the sidewalk, seeking uncharted ground. Drawn across the gray concrete in bright yellow chalk lay a sequence of numbered chambers—a mortal training grid! Deliberation would not conquer the gauntlet. I sprang forward into the first square, landing with a solid slap of my boots. With deliberate rhythm, I bounded from single bastion to twin flanking redoubts, planting each stride squarely within the borders. At the crown of the course, I pivoted mid-air, landing firm and victorious upon the final arch. Not a single chalk boundary was breached. A glorious trial of agility concluded!
