Chalk Line Sprint
Indoor air was spent, so I jogged down the sidewalk to the Woodbridge community playground. Resting on the sunlit asphalt beside the hopscotch grid lay a chunky cylinder of blue sidewalk chalk, snapped in half. Untapped arena tool! I dropped into an athletic power stance, clamped both hands around the powdery chalk fragment, and dragged it hard across the dark asphalt. Grrr-scraape! The rough aggregate sheared off bright blue dust, marking out a dead-straight two-foot sprint lane. I drove off my heels, charged the blue boundary line, and stuck the landing dead on the mark. New arena marked and conquered!
