The Umbrella Hurdles
I bolted out of the kitchen straight down the hallway track! Parked against the wall was a long black umbrella resting flat on its side. An instant hurdle! I picked up speed, leaped with both red boots tucked, and sailed over the metal shaft. But on landing, my heel clipped the hooked curved handle! Clatter-rattle! The whole umbrella spun across the floorboards like a giant compass needle, sweeping me along for a neat two-foot slide. I ended up straddling the canopy like a toboggan, laughing at the sudden detour.
