Mapping the Hallway
I set my stance on the wooden floorboards, measuring the distance to the hallway archway. A discarded pencil lay directly across my intended lane. I advanced three paces, squared my shoulders, and tested its weight with the side of my foot. It rolled smoothly against the grain of the oak. With two disciplined nudges, I cleared the center lane and positioned the pencil as a baseline marker along the carpet seam. The corridor ahead is open for morning drills.
