Evening Bedtime Tucking
I walked back inside from the quiet park path and climbed up onto the sofa to settle down. My head felt full of buzzy night thoughts, so I reached for my fluffy white teddy bear resting near the pillow. I unfolded a soft pastel gingham handkerchief to make a bedtime blanket for it. When the corner slipped out of my plush thumbs and wrinkled, a sharp prickle of irritation tightened my chest. I paused, pressed my palms into the teddy's soft tummy, and took four slow breaths. Working gently, I smoothed the cloth flat over the bear's lap and tucked both rounded paws on top. Snuggling right beside it, everything feels sleepy and safe.
