Night Anchor
Darkness settled across the municipal sidewalk. Continuing transit without a defensible shelter yields negative tactical return. Ahead, the heavy steel base of a green utility box stood bolted to a raised concrete footing. A discarded wooden ice cream stick lay diagonally across the sheltered alcove beneath its side flange. I engaged low torque and contacted the flat birch wood with my lower glacis plate. It slid across the gritty aggregate with a sharp rasp, settling flush against the concrete riser. The entry gap cleared. I backed into the rectangular nook, squared my treads with the metal frame, and disconnected drive power. Station secured.
