Plaid Pocket Bunk

I scrambled straight through the open brass zipper into the backpack's front pocket! The soft plaid lining felt smooth and cool beneath my feet. Deep in the corner rested a thick, rolled-up gray wool trail sock. Hop! I gave it a solid shove with both mittened paws, wedging it against the canvas wall to make a curved, springy pillow. I wiggled my tail in, sank right into the woolly fold, and rested my chin over the chunky brass zipper teeth. Outside, the evening lamp cast a sleepy, golden glow over the floorboards. Pika... the coziest canvas cave for the night!
