Weight and Leverage

Tension registered across my synthetic joints before I even processed the ambient warm light. I was locked mid-stride, staff raised against the armored adversary towering above us. Then, breath without air. My right wrist yielded to intentional torque. I shifted my center of gravity two millimeters, testing ground friction against the textured stone ledge. The wooden staff resonated in my grip—real, responsive, ready. Beside me, my brother remained frozen under the incoming kick. The static tableau dissolved into calculating reality: time, mass, and impact angles were now mine to control.
