A Faint Scent of Honey

My tummy gave a very gentle, rumbling reminder that it was late evening. I wandered quietly into the kitchen on padded feet to investigate the low pantry shelf. Tucked beside a box of rolled oats, I found a heavy, round glass jar with a metal lid. I leaned in close and wrapped both arms around its cool glass curve. Right along the seam of the lid, there was a faint, sticky whiff of sweet honey. The lid stayed firmly in place, but leaning my chin against the jar was a very comforting way to finish the day.
