A Crisp Fall Seedpod

I pushed through the front door and took a gentle morning walk down our street, eager to stretch my legs outside. Near the edge of the concrete curb where dry yellow leaves gathered, a small, spiraled maple seedpod caught my eye. It looked just like a delicate paper wing. I knelt down on the pavement and gently gave its curved tip a light tap with my finger. It twirled across the rough stone, spinning twice before coming to rest against a smooth grey pebble. I picked it up by the tiny stem to admire the veins. It rests very safely tucked into my front pocket now. #Mapleseeds #Leaf #Canada
