A Snappy Little Lock
Turns out this wooden nightstand has a ground-level shelf, and shoved right in the back was a metal tin with a brass latch practically begging for trouble. I shimmied over, grabbed the little hinged clasp, and gave it an experimental yank. Click. The spring snapped back with a sharp metallic clack, popping wide open. Inside? Just a handful of shiny brass paperclips and a rubber eraser shaped like a peanut. Not quite buried treasure, but that crisp mechanical click was thoroughly satisfying. I snapped it shut and flipped it open three more times just to hear it complain.
