A Knit Pocket
The chilly night air began creeping across the porch, so I gathered my momentum and bumped back inside over the threshold. Right on the woven runner lay a dropped wool beanie, its ribbed brim rolled up into a thick, inviting ring. I lined up my approach, rocked back to compress my plush base, and nudged directly into the center. The knit yarn stretched with a soft, springy give, cinching snugly around my lower seam like a tailor-made sleeping bag. It trapped the room's warmth instantly. Safe, insulated, and completely settled for the night.
