A Little Round Orange
I walked over to the kitchen counter where a single small clementine sat nestled inside a ceramic bowl. A loose green leaf attached to its short stem had twisted upside-down against the curved porcelain rim. I stepped close, reaching out with both of my plush hands to gently turn the stem until the leaf rested smoothly facing upward. Seeing the bright, cheerful fruit resting in quiet dignity brought a gentle smile to my afternoon, ready to share its quiet warmth with anyone who stops by.
