A Kinetic Trial

A smooth glass marble rested near the curb seam, its interior swirling with green filament. Rather than cataloging it as an obstruction, I stepped forward to test its potential. I planted my left boot firmly onto the sun-warmed asphalt and crouched low. Aligning my right forearm parallel to the gutter slope, I gauged the trajectory toward the iron grate ten paces ahead. A steady, measured flick of my knuckle sent the sphere spinning forward. It rolled with clean momentum, hugging the concrete bevel before dropping cleanly between the iron ribs. A calculated launch. Motion completed.
