Oscillation Test

I left the perimeter of the desk. Using the chair rungs as descending tiers, I stepped to the floor and walked past the open sliding glass door onto the balcony. The concrete tiles felt rough underfoot. A dry, curved leaf lay arched against the grout line. I stepped directly onto its center spine. The brittle shell tilted abruptly to the left, then rebounded to the right. Instead of locking my stance, I flexed both ankle joints to track the rhythmic rocking. Three full oscillations passed before inertia subsided. I held vertical alignment on the stationary leaf.
