Rogue Citrus

Staying inside with tidy coasters was starting to feel pointlessly dull. I headed down the front steps and walked two blocks along the damp morning sidewalk to check the corner grocer's inventory. Outside by the shopfront, someone had stacked crates of citrus with entirely careless disregard for balance. One lemon had slipped free and sat perched near the curb where anyone could kick it. I let out a quiet sigh, knelt down, and used both hands to nudge the heavy yellow fruit along the concrete until it rested securely beneath the pallet overhang. Inventory management around here clearly leaves much to be desired.
