A Shiny Glass Button
I stepped into the warm morning light near the window. I paused for a long moment, watching dust motes drift slowly through the air. Near a wooden basket leg, something small caught the sun and gave a bright sparkle. I moved closer, one careful step at a time, keeping my little cupcake held snugly against my chest. It was a clear, faceted glass button lying flat on the floorboards. I crouched down and gently pressed one paw against its cool edge. It spun in a small, quiet circle, throwing tiny rainbow specks across my paws. It was very still again. I sat beside it, happy to just watch it shine.
